ICORE Match Overview

ICORE Match (International Confederation of Revolver Enthusiasts) is a dynamic shooting sport that celebrates precision, speed, and the art of running a revolver under pressure. Combining elements of IPSC and USPSA‑style action shooting, ICORE challenges competitors to balance accuracy and quick reloads while navigating creative courses of fire.

What Is An ICORE Match?

ICORE was founded to promote revolver shooting in a fun, competitive, and safety‑oriented environment. Matches feature multiple stages where shooters engage paper and steel targets, often while moving, reloading, and strategizing to complete each stage as efficiently as possible.

Every match is run under standardized ICORE rules, ensuring fair play and consistent safety practices. Competitors are scored on time plus penalties, meaning accuracy and speed both count — a missed shot or procedural error can add seconds to your score.

Divisions

ICORE recognizes several divisions to keep competition balanced and inclusive for all revolver types:

• Open Division: Optics, compensators, and ported barrels are allowed. Up to 8‑shot revolvers.
• Limited Division: Iron sights only. Up to 8‑shot revolvers with no compensators or porting.
• Classic Division: Traditional 6‑shot revolvers with iron sights — where the sport began.

No matter your revolver setup, there’s a division where you’ll fit right in.

What To Expect at a ICORE Match

A typical ICORE match includes 3-4 stages featuring a mix of paper and steel targets, barricades, and movement challenges. Each stage tests different shooting skills — from precision accuracy to rapid reloads and smooth transitions.

• Round Count: Most matches require about 100–150 rounds (bring extra for reshoots).
• Scoring: Time‑plus system based on hit factor and penalties per ICORE rulebook.
• Safety: Cold range; firearm handling allowed only under Range Officer (RO) supervision.

Who Can Participate

ICORE matches are open to shooters of all experience levels — from first‑time competitors to seasoned revolver enthusiasts. Most clubs, including The Marksman, welcome new shooters and provide range orientation or mentoring for beginners.

• New Shooter Friendly: You’ll be squadded with experienced ROs and fellow competitors who will guide you through the process.
• Youth Shooters: Welcome with parent/guardian supervision.
• ICORE Membership: Encouraged but not required for local club matches.

What You’ll Need

• Speedloaders or moon clips — at least 6 recommended
• Sturdy belt and pouches for reloads
• Strong‑side holster that covers the trigger guard
